About the Flight Selection
Żywiec Group (Heineken) | Cieszyn, Poland | 9.5% ABV | $2.99/16.9oz
Zywiec Porter, pronounced “je-vi-ets,” is a dark, strong beer brewed according to the traditional Baltic Porter recipe from 1881, with the Munich malt and special malts for caramel and color plus the highest quality aromatic hops. Everything together creates a unique combination of taste. 91/100 on RateBeer.com
Pike Brewing Co. | Seattle, WA | 8.3% ABV | 28 IBU | $4.49/22oz
The 2016 Pike Auld Acquaintance is a dark, toasty brown, high-gravity ale infused with spices and aromatic notes of orange. Brewed with three different Yakima Valley hops, Curacao and sweet orange peel, coriander, cassia bark and nutmeg, it drinks as a rich and gutsy, yet well-balanced, winter warmer — sensual and embracing! The 2016 label pays tribute to Charlie Papazian. We have a vibrant and flavorful craft brewing scene today thanks to Charlie, who wrote The Complete Joy of Homebrewing, founded the American Homebrewers Association, the Brewers Association, and the Great American Beer Festival (GABF).
Gouden Carolus Grand Cru of the Emperor
Brouwerij Het Anker | Mechelen, Belgium | 10% ABV | $32.99/25.4oz
A very special treat for 99 Bottles customers! This is a 2007 vintage, RARE, and retired ale. Grand Cru of the Emperor is brewed once a year, on the 24th of February, on the birthday of Charles the Fifth. This exceptional ale ages well, developing a refined complexity and intense aromas. With powerful notes of roasted malts, caramel and plums, its surprisingly soft and fruity aroma combines a warm roundness with a rich taste. An imperial brew to cherish and enjoy in moderation. One of the top 50 beers in the world; 100/100 on RateBeer.com.
Maui Brewing | Kihei, Maui, Hawaii | 6.2% ABV | 82 IBU | $2/12oz
India Pale Ale was developed in Burton, England, as a “Super-Premium” hoppy pale ale around 1800. The extra strength in alcohol and hops helped preserve the beer on its long export journeys to India and beyond. The style developed a following worldwide. Its flavor begins with a smooth, malty creaminess followed with a big burst of dry-hop flavor from English Kent Golding Hops. It then finishes with a lingering yet pleasant bitterness. 93/100 on RateBeer.com
