About Us

99 Bottles is a beer store, in Federal Way, Wash. on the outskirts of Seattle and Tacoma. We're talking a serious beer store—99 Bottles maintains over 850 beers in stock! There’s ales and lagers, plus ciders and a few meads. The beer comes from over 50 countries and around the US, plus a great selection of Northwest microbrews.

As you enter, grab empty six-pack carriers to your left and start mixing your own beer packs. For larger specialty bottles, stake out a corner on the counter and set ‘em up. Not sure where to start? Look for—

  • Domestic beers from around the US, plus Northwest microbrews, with back-stock and more on the shelves
  • Imported beers are on the shelves and in the cooler—
    • Belgian biers in doors 13–14
    • UK beers in door 12, plus a few cans in door 9
    • Eastern European and Russian beers in door 11
    • German biers in door 10
    • All other countries in doors 8–9
  • Ciders are in the central cooler, just before you hit the shelves for meads and more beer!

Each beer has a tag that tells you where the beer’s from, its style, the bottle price, a flavor description and alcohol by volume (ABV) when available. Want a recommendation or feeling overwhelmed? Ask for assistance: tell 99 Bottles the beers you typically drink, and get suggestions on other beers you may enjoy.

99 Bottles stores beer well. UV light and radically changing temperatures are two contributors to shortening a beer's shelf life. The store lights are equipped with UV filters to help prolong life and quality of the brews. UV filters significantly reduce the amount of ultra-violet light in the store. The store is also kept at a consistent cool temperature. 99 Bottles brings in limited quantities of each label so the freshest brews are available.

Swing by 99 Bottles beer store and pick up your favorite beer, plus beer glasses and brewery t-shirts. For hours and directions/map, visit our contact us page.

99 Bottles history: the dream...

It all started with a truck driver who delivered beer and other beverages to stores in South King County. While making deliveries, folks would regularly approach and ask where they could find their favorite brew. The driver shared their frustration as he also wanted to pick up something different or a hard-to-find favorite on his way to a friendly game of croquet after a long work day.

One day, as he was making a delivery, he shared his idea of opening a specialty beer store with the owners of Corky Cellars. They discussed the idea and told the driver about a beer store they'd visited. That was the first conversation the driver had about his idea to bring a specialty beer store to the south end.

Over the years, the driver discussed the idea with friends and family. In the summer of 2006, the driver and his wife started work on 99 Bottles. The summer was filled with research and planning. They attended some business and accounting classes. The business plan was authored, location found, funds secured, and build-out was started in late November.

Build-out of 99 Bottles took place from November 26, 2006 to January 18, 2007. And in December 2006, 99 Bottles received notice of approval by the Washington State Liquor Board to sell alcohol (to legal age...please have your ID ready!) for off-site consumption with a Specialty Beer/Wine Shop endorsement.

99 Bottles opened its doors for business on Saturday, January 20th.

99 Bottles celebrated its one-year anniversary on January 20th, 2008. The party featured Rogue brews paired with cake; 90 folks came out and partook. It was a blast!
